Easter Weekend
Well, I'm finally sitting down to document a little bit about our fun Easter weekend this year. It is always such a special time of year, and a privilege to celebrate our risen Lord. Katherine, for days kept saying, "mommy, easter is not about the candy, it is about Jesus" I loved hearing her tell me that! We've been attending bible blast this year, and she has learned SO much, I'm amazed at the knowledge that she has. So, a few weeks before easter, we read the story for bible blast, so all week we were re-reading, and I would pause intentionally during the story, to have her interject the correct answer--each time she got it right, and continued right on.
Well, we also had the wonderful privilege of hosting my mom, sister, and my nieces in our house to celebrate with us this special time of year. Katherine was SO excited that abuela, and her cousins were coming to visit, and she anticipated their arrival with such eagerness. So much so, that she was completely deflated when they did not arrive the day that we expected them originally. Luckily they were able to drive in the next day, and the kids again were super anxious for their arrival. They waited at the window after nap, just waiting for them to drive up. We had so much fun, despite the runny noses, and my nieces feeling yucky some of the time!

The weather was not the best, but it did encourage us to stay indoor and enjoy more quality time together! The kids played, ran, fought, watched movies together, shared, ate together, and enjoyed several nights of slumber parties. Every night, it was a little bit of hassle getting them to calm down, just because they were so excited to be sleeping in the same room. I think two nights straight, my kids didn't fall asleep until past 11 o'clock, while my nieces would be fast asleep!
Regardless, we had lots of fun. On saturday morning we were invited to easter egg hunt at a friends house, and that was a lot of fun. It was my kids first time to egg hunt, and they loved it. The event was so well organized, I could not have done it myself. Even the adults got in on the "egg fun" and really enjoyed some laughs doing an egg balancing race, and an egg toss. Here are just a few pics from our easter egg hunt.

Saturday afternoon, while the kids played mom and I cooked, and made some delicious tamales. It took quite a few hours to complete the meal, but it was well worth it and I still have some in the fridge to enjoy.
On Sunday we enjoyed church, although we were in no rush to get there. Sunrise service was out of the question, and we barely made it to the 11 oclock service given the weather, and the battery in our van dying as we were leaving. Sunday night we ventured out to dinner with all the kids. We ended up at the Osaka restaurant and the kids were really entertained with the cook's "show".
Monday morning was back to normal routine, school and bible study but not before having to say good bye to abuela, tia and the cousins. Saying good bye is the hardest part. My kids were so sad to see them go!

and just because she radiates beauty....
I am in LOVE with these images of Katherine!! There is a lot of emotion, especially in the first one. I can see right through those eyes of hers, what she's feeling as we approach surgery. It is deep, there is fear, and there is some excitement. After 3 years the port was coming out!! She's been wanting it out for a while, but she was also a bit scared about HOW it was coming out. She knew surgery, but what does that mean?? well, as best we could explain it, and yet not scare her we told her. She was calm, very calm the morning of, and she did great. just the type of afternoon we all needed...

We haven't done TOO much this weekend, but apparently we needed one of these afternoons to recover...and I have to add it's NOT very often that I have the opportunity to get this on camera...I love the peace, and calm in this pic of my five year old that goes NONSTOP all day, just like her two younger brothers
